Live demo of Reach Remote
Under the headline “Interaction at Sea”, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Autonomy were discussed for almost a full day during this year Haugesund Maritime Week, with an audience from the coastal administration, pilot services, oil companies and more.
The day was concluded at the Norwegian Coastal Administration office, where ship of the year 2024, the 24m USV Reach Remote where presented by Inge Grutle from Reach Subsea.
Live from Haugesund a connection to Reach Remote was established by Knut Eilif Husa from Kongsberg Maritime, and video from the the vessels Situational Awareness system, onboard radar and other sensors where shown. From Massterly, Ragnar Stangring (in Haugesund) and Kristine Prøsch (at the Remote Operations Center in Horten) demonstrated the operational surfaces, and Inge Grutle symbolically started the engines remotely for the first time.
Reach Remote is preparing for seatrials at Trosvik yard in Brevik, before commencing on real-life tests of the autonomous and remote-control systems. The first period the USV will be controlled from a support vessel, before monitoring and control tasks gradually are moved to the operation center on shore.
